What is this song and who is it sung by?

hello.
i heard a song sung by a woman and i dont know all of the lyrics but it stars out about going to the shore. something about thousands of waves, looking up at the stars and telling them what i've lost.
and the chorus (most likely) is "all i see is your face"
or something very similar to that.

and towards the end there is a repeated lyric (i think) that says "so/and i come back home to you"

the person who sings this sounds a little big like avril lavigne (only a little!). and the song also beings with a piano intro.

if you have any ideas of what this song might be please tell me!

its not when you're gone by avril. it just sounds a tiny bit like her.
