Why is it called Neapolitan Ice Cream?!

Why is it called Neapolitan Ice Cream?

Why don't they call it Choco Van Straw or sth? Have any other ideas to replace 'neapolitan' anybody?


Answers:

It is not named for the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
In the late 19th century as a reflection of its presumed origins in the cuisine of the Italian city of Naples, and the many Neapolitan immigrants who brought their expertise in frozen desserts with them to the United States. Straight from the encyclopedia.
