Love or Hate your Job?!

Question:

Love or Hate your Job?

I believe that I am really luck because I work with people with learning disabilities, I find them work placements, help them train in a job and then, hopefully, get them paid work at the end. We do lots of things to help confidence and promote independence,it's really easy to enjoy. What do you do? Do you like going to work or do you hate it. I was a chef for 13 years, it was ok in the beginning but the last 5 years were hell!!!

Mel, there's no such thing as JUST a cleaner :-) Everything everybody does is important and has equal value. Thanks for the kind words, and say hello to your sister for me

Silverboy All I can say is that my job fills me with satisfaction and teaches me new things every day. If your volunteer work makes you feel the same then stick with it, choose it as you sound like a natural, nice one

Emma G-When I stopped being a chef I was totally lost, I had never done or wanted to be anything else. The job doesn't lend itself to a way into any obvious other career either. I just went for it, and you should too. You'll be amazed at what you can do, I was.

Answers:

Well I work as a babysitter for my mother and my cousin. I don't enjoy the work, since I have little patience and no tolerance. It also makes things worse when they are your siblings. But I have to admit it isn't all bad. There are times I do enjoy it.

The other thing I do is volunteer at a place for mentally disabled adults. I get to go out with them in the community and have a good time. I also stay there with my mom when she works on the weekends. I really enjoy doing this, but at times it makes me sad that so many people are afraid of these folks. It is nice to be able to go out into our small community and teach people that they aren't the crazy people you see in movies. When I am older I am seriously considering taking a permanant job in the health field. I find it extremely rewarding, even though I don't get paid for helping out.

I think that money should never be a factor in finding a job. That is why I have often wondered how people can hate their jobs. In my eyes if you are unhappy with your job it is your own fault. You really have to enjoy what you are doing to be a success at it. Even if you don't make a fortune, feeling good and happy inside is worth soo much more.
