the last episode doesnt show anything about him. did he die?

In the middle of season 6, he goes into a coma for the second time. They didn't mention him again for the rest of the season, so I presume he didn't die, but we don't know that for sure. We were never given a he is dead or he is not dead. If he does not appear in season 7, there will be some explanation given along the way letting us know whether he is alive.
