Faster than a speeding bullet?!

Question:

Faster than a speeding bullet?

Since supeheroes such as Superman and The Flash wears rubber boots, how come it doesn't get damage when they run at superspeed (i.e. doesn't friction would cause the boots to damage or even get burn when running at those speed rate?)

Answers: I've read that Superman's body generates a small field of invulnerability which extends just far enough to include his clothing. That's why he can have bullets bouncing off his chest and his suit doesn't get full of holes in the process.

I would have to guess that the Flash must have something similar as friction on his boots would be the least of his problems. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle without a helmet really fast? The wind can be pretty harsh and when you approach the speed of sound, I would imagine his skin would be torn away from his skull. dont spoil a good story -_- lol They aren't made of rubber. They are made of unobtainium. Superman's body generates a small foce field for lack of a better term arround it that protects his clothes this does not protect his cape though. This is post Crisis on Infinite Earths. Pre Crisis Superman'd costume was made of material from Krypton that was the blankets he was wrapped in when sent to Earth. These require a Kryptonians's heat vission to cut.

Flash Pre Crisis had a protective aura arround him that prevented him and anything that he was waring or carring from friction. Post Crisis flash has the speed force that does the same thing. In stories they call it suspension of belief. DC and Marvel have explained how these things work for their given powered beings. Marvel's easy fix was unstable molecules. Most of the powered beings wear uniforms made of this material that adapts for nearly any power. In DC they've gone one better. Most beings' powers generate a small amount of force that protects their clothes. Superman's was at one time able to keep his uniform clean and pristine as well as free of harm. Certain beings could generate enough force to damage his outfit, though. Personally I just try not to think to hard about these things.
