Answers: Yamato isn't taking Kakashi's place; he was asked to replace Kakashi for a while.
After Kakashi was hospitalized due to exhaustion after using Mangekyou Sharingan in the rescue Gaara arc, original Team 7 was supposed to meet Orochimaru a few days after that. However Kakashi's condition didn't allow him to lead Team 7 for a while, so Yamato was asked to replace him.
Since Team 7's future meeting that time involved Orochimaru (and perhaps Sasuke), Yamato's selection seemed fit since Tsunade was afraid Naruto would lose his temper easily and unleash the Kyuubi, endangering everyone. Besides, Yamato inherited the First's ability to control Bijuu, making him a perfect person to control the situation should such thing occur.
Also, Kakashi was Yamato's senior, it's like an honor for Yamato to be able to replace Kakashi. Even for a while. Huh?? what kakshi's gone, some one took his place, oh god m,y best friend will be devastated, I'm devastated please say it's not true, some one takes his place, is he still apart of the show, what's going on????????we didn't get that far yet............ because after he fights deidara with mangekyo sharigan he wasnt able (or didnt have the strength ) to be the leader of the team and to go to a new mission with naruto and sakura 9he was in the hospital )and the time when sasori told sakura to go to the bridge was coming so they needed someone, and they chosed yamato because he was the highest ranked anbu and had the power to control the kyuubi's chakra because he had the first hokage's cells ( orochimaru did this to him when he was a kid ) so if naruto goes 4 tail or something he could control it ...

so as tsunade said i dont think yamato is his real name .... :D Kakahi was healing because he got injured using the magyekeyo sharengan yamato is not perminate.
