People have to spent so much time and effort to create these characters... they create them with the purpose for the sake of people that know how to appreciate them...

No. I actually think it's healthier to like anime characters. This comes from experience. Imagine if the world received your thoughts. It would be a pain for whoever (who's living breathing human) to like him (or her) and have him (or her) hearing.
If you liked an anime character, it wouldn't affect anyone, except maybe the creator of it.
As long as you keep a healthy, clean mind, and avoid hentai, liking a character is okay.
