Kinda unrelated: should i read ahead? A month or so i was on chapter 160 something, then decided i would let the anime catch up before reading any more, but i want to know should i continue reading or just wait?

Yes, the Arrancar arc ended with ep 143 "Grimmjow's Revival". The next arc is the Hueco Mundo arc, starting with episode 144 "Ishida?Chad, the quickening of a new power" on October 18th.

As for reading ahead, it's your decision whether or not to do so. If you can't wait to know what's going to happen to the team, then read ahead in the manga. If you don't want to be spoiled then let the anime get ahead a little bit before reading. It's a personal choice really.
