Why doesn't anyone make a movie based on the "Secret Wars" comic b!

Question: They have all these Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and X-Men movies, why not make a Secret Wars movie. I just might be cool.

Answers: They have all these Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and X-Men movies, why not make a Secret Wars movie. I just might be cool.

They (Hollywood) can't even do the Dark Phoenix Saga correctly.

How in God's name do you expect them to do something as massive as Secret Wars?!?

The X-Men movies were completely hosed up and changed all the f*ck around. They have characters meeting each other when they shouldn't, and the whole storyline is fudged up beyond repair.

You've got Cyclops, Jean, Iceman, Beast and Angel who were the original X-Men, yet in the movie version Ice and Angel are teens and WAY younger than Cyke. And Famke Jansen is a horrible Jean Grey. She looks like a man, and her face looks like a skull with a red wig. And this was before she turned all water down and pathetic Dark Phoenix.

This is why I don't consider the movie version the true X-Men. They are an alternate Universe team from another dimension from a different timeline where horrendous writing prevails.

And don't even get me started on how horrible the Fantastic 4 movies were. And why did they have to make Dr. Doom (who doesn't have ANY powers but high intelligence and a suit of armor) into Magneto? That makes absolutely no sense.

I think all comic book fans would love to see a "Secret Wars" movie but it wouldn't work because in order to get the story line together the movie would be ten hours long or maybe even more. Also, if they did make the movie it would void out all Marvel movies out because they were adapted in order to please the main stream audience. Besides, they already fu6ked up the story of how Spider-Man got his symbiotic suit and they killed off a lot of Marvel characters involved with the secret wars.

There isn't a big enough audience for such a project. Any producer would decide the source material (the 'Secret Wars' mini-series) doesn't lend itself to film adaption and that such a project would only appeal to hard-core comic book fans, who aren't numerous enough to make up an audience big enough for the film to break even. I thought the mini-series was fair, but I certainly wouldn't pay to see a film adaption of it. There are just too many characters, too many events, and too much storyline to condense even half of the material into something that would make sense within the length of an average movie. Mainstream audiences would, in the words of the late film mogul Harry Cohn, "stay away in droves."

Because it would involve way too many characters and the stupid secret behind the wars is the Beyonder which isn't as bad as the totally stupider secret that the Beyonder is part of a cosmic cube. Totally lame way to explain an otherwise cool idea of a planet full of superpowered people fighting each other.

While there are a lot of reasons to suggest that the issue is both writing and production, the real reason you'll probably never see a Secret Wars movie is due to the fact that Marvel has licensed the characters to different studios.

For example, Sony controls Spider-Man, Fox controls the X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Paramount controls Iron Man and supposedly the Captain America properties.

In reality, it won't be because of translation of comics into movies, it's simply due to the fact that most of the major character properties are owned by different studios for the purposes of making a movie.

Now, it is always possible for an animated Marvel film to be made, and depending on the sales of their first foray into animated films, it might happen there if anywhere.

The simplest answer is this: the rights for the individual characters have been sold to different studios. 20th Century Fox has Daredevil, X-men and the FF. Sony has Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. Marvel itself has Thor, Captain America and Iron Man. It would take a huge co-operative effort between the studios to make a Secret Wars movie and there is no way that will ever happen due to good-ol' greed.

I agree with what what everyone else here said, but I also want to add one little thing of my own.

A live-action SECRET WARS movie would be impractical, if not outright impossible, for a number of differerent reasons, but what about an animated miniseries? The first ULTIMATE AVENGERS animated movie wasn't bad, though I didn't like the second one, the Iron Man was okay, and while I haven't seen it I imagine the Dr. Strange was okay as well. I think it would interesting to see a six or so part story telling as much of the SECRET WARS story as possible.

Everybody esle has already explained why it is impossible, from rightws and licensing to length and complexity. but you go for remembering Secret Wars! It was one of my favorite series, even if the ending of the sequel was ripped off from a Roger Zelazny story. It brought about so many changes. I always liked the Beyonder. The part where he came to Earth and Spider Man had to teach him how to take a leak was so funny! But you have to love a guy who beats up Galactus, the Watcher, Eternity, Order, Chaos, the In Betweener, the Clestials and All Those Cosmic Guys all at once!
