Clark takes Kara to the centennial Smallville Harvest Festival but she’d rather be finding the crystal. Clark warns her that she needs to fit in, but Kara is distracted when she spots Jimmy Olson. Clark talks about how outlaws hid gold inside the time capsule that they’ll be opening for the festival. Three girls then arrive: Tempest, Tyler, and Carly. They start working the crowd to win the Miss Sweet Corn beauty contest.
Later, Clark is working in the barn when Lana arrives and they share an embrace. Meanwhile, one of the girls, Carly, is walking through Smallville talking with someone on the phone about getting the money. She goes into the flower shop… and the entire place freezes solid.
Lana explains to Clark that she kept him in the dark to protect him. She also says that they can’t tell Chloe or anyone else because she needs to clear her name before reappearing. Clark offers to put her up at the farm and starts to explain about Kara… as she comes in practicing posture. Lana gives them some time alone while Clark tries to explain she shouldn’t call attention to herself by entering the beauty contest. Clark figures she’s going to enter whether she wants to or not so offers her some practice in her abilities. She doesn’t do well and storms off, insisting she’ll do it on her own.
The girls are preparing for the beauty contest and Tyler tells Tempest that she “took care” of Carly. Kara approaches two of the girls, Tempest and Tyler. They dismiss her and she walks outside past the flower shop, where she spots the frozen Carly.
At LuthorCorp, Agent Carter of the Department of Domestic Security pays Lex a visit and find out what he knows about the woman he saw at the dam. Chloe is meeting with Jimmy and congratulates him on being back, and has a photo of the dead Carly. Chloe prefers to work on “regular” news, while Gabriel talks to Lois who is in New York City covering a story. He spots the photo and wants Chloe to run with it as the kind of story he wants the Daily Planet to carry. She reluctantly heads to Smallville with Jimmy in tow.
At the Kent farm, Clark talks to Lana about Kara and she suggests he might be a bit too hard on her. Meanwhile, the contestants are rehearsing at the Talon with 24 hours left. Jimmy is spotting photos and catches Kara’s attention again. The sheriff comes in to talk about Carly, and Tyler and Tempest overhear him as Jimmy snaps pictures of them. Tyler asserts they need the pageant as a distraction to go after the time capsule. They spot Jimmy and Tempest goes after him as he heads outside to the car. He gets in and cold air fills the car through the vents. Tempest, having moved away, spots Kara as she rescues the unconscious Jimmy by ripping off the car door.
Lex arrives at the Kent farm in response to Lana’s message, and she wants to know if he’s taken care of everything so she can resurface. He asks for forgiveness but she refuses and wants to know about the settlement. He notes that she embezzled $10 million from him and wonders what Clark would think. Lex then asks about Clark’s cousin and insists he’s looking forward to meeting her.
Clark and Chloe find Kara at the hospital watching over Jimmy, and Kara is angry when Clark is concerned someone might have seen her use her powers. Chloe reveals that the three girls gained weather-related powers during the meteor shower and have been traveling the Midwest committing robberies while entering contests. They figure they’re after the treasure in the time capsule.
Kara is at the Talon preparing to leave when Tyler and Tempest approach her and tell her they know about her powers. They ask for her help in getting the time capsule and show her a photo of the gold… and a Kryptonian medallion is also in the photo.
That night Tempest and Tyler go to the site of the capsule but Kara isn’t there. They go to the pageant and participate along with Kara, as Clark arrives. Meanwhile, Lex meets with Agent Carter at the manor and says that the woman he’s looking for doesn’t exist, was just a fantasy. Instead, Lex turns over all of his research on everything that’s happened in Smallville and asks the government for help.
Clark looks on as Kara is selected as the winner. However, the sheriff comes in and arrests… Kara. Clark and Chloe visit her in jail as she prepares to escape, and Kara explains she needed the map, but Tyler took it.
As Kara describes the map to them, Tyler and Tempest use the map to dig up the box. Opening it, they find a Kryptonian medallion just as Clark arrives. Tyler throws a tornado at him which unearths kryptonite, weakening him. Kara arrives, having broken out of jail, and easily disposes of both of them then destroys the kryptonite with heat vision. Clark thanks her for saving him and admits she needs to figure out how to use her abilities her own way.
The next day, Clark and Kara considered the Kryptonian medallion, and she believes it’s some kind of SOS buried a hundred years ago. Kara then reveals that she got a job at the Talon as a waitress, and points out neither one of them are really human. Clark believes that Earth is his home where he belongs, but Kara warns that he can’t live a normal life.
Lex’s man reports in that they’ve found his mystery woman… right where Lex thought she would be. Jimmy and Chloe pick up a coffee at the Talon and he admits that he finally believes how so many meteor freaks go nuts. Kara comes in and Chloe notices that he seems interested in her.
Clark and Lana tour the carnival and Clark says nothing could change how he feels about her. Lana says she never wants the past to come between them again. Kara is leaving the Talon at the end of the night when Lex arrives and asks to share a cappuccino with her. He thanks her for saving his life but she denies having been involved. Lex doesn’t buy it and warns her he’ll find out the truth.

Kara intered a beauty pageant and was befriended by robbers. Lana came and visited clark, she ow lives with him. The treasure that the robbers were after is kryptonian.
