1. Rurouni Kenshin is a classic! **** The only problem is that it's very well known and there 10 movies out there. If somehow you've never seen it before I would recommend watching the Japanese version with English subtitles. The English dubs are horrible.

2. Deathnote. *****. Just though of this one. The movies were pretty good but the anime version is really top. It has a longer story line, everything is more in depth then the movie, and it looks really good. Even if you've seen the movie I recommend watching the anime. It's fantastic.

There are too many Manga/Anime out there to pick a best one. Use <tv-links.co.uk> there's a nice anime library there.

does it have to be film? I have series too, but ok just film:

1. Akira ******** (all the stars in the sky). Made in 1981 I think - it's not just a film it's a work of art and I've loved Kanada since I was a little tiny girl.

2. Gundam Wing Endless Waltz **** This film is cool, I never saw the series til after the film, but it was still excellent, it looks good, sounds good....and from this one I love Trowa

3. Princess Mononoke **** The story behind this film is really sweet, it's well animated and one of studio Ghibli's absolute best films. Also some historical /cultural insight into the japanese, never a bad thing.

4. Metropolis *** Animation style is beautiful, it's from the guy who did astroboy, I think his name is Osamu Tezaku, good story, brillianty animated, again more art than film.

damn, did you only want one? I can't pick they all deserve a mention....akira, princess mononoke and gundam wing are all on animestart.com, if you wanna watch em...

ok, i don't know if you can find metropolis on the net or endless waltz but they're both worth watching :D

just thought of another blood+, the main character is called saya, she kicks ***

i dont no
lol

I think Spirited Away was lovely
****
it started a bit slow though but its cute - about a girl who's parents have turned into pigs and she has to turn them back but meets many people along the way

Howl's Moving Castle is brilliant
*****
about a girl turned old lady who meets a wizard and his moving castle.

Out of those I'd pick HMC because its beautiful.

(edit: sorry, didnt see the notice about Studio Ghibli... I guess that was useless :P)

Oh my...there are lots in my mind. But aside from Studio Ghibli films..worth mentioning films are Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers. I give both a 5 star rating because of the uniqueness of the storyline and great animation. Both were created by Satoshi Kon.

Millenium Actress had a very unique way of recalling the past of the main protangonist. But it is about a film about everlasting love. So of you want a sentimental film...try this one. You won't regret it.

On the other hand Tokyo Godfathers is a very fun film. It is very nice to watch it without knowing the plot since it is fun to discover how the story ended. But to give a short description, it is about the adventure that 3 wanderers had when they found a baby near a pile of trash. That happened during the cold holiday season.

my favorite anime of all time is you're under arrest series and i give it a 4.5 rating. It is very funny with some drama thrown in. I especially like the parts of natsumi and tokairin. it is about two police officers and their lives

vampire hunter d that was the coolest

Gundam Wing Endless Waltz - probably the first anime film ive ever seen, and still holds a place in my heart for its awsomeness. i cant remember much about the movie, all i remember was that it was different from the other gundam series and was very deep and cool.*****

Lupin the 3rd in The Castle of Cagliostro - I loved the series, and even though i havnt seen any of the other Lupin movies, this one was great. After stealing thousands of dollars, Lupin discovers that they were all counterfeits, very special counterfeits. he goes to a small country known underground for their counterfeiting. after discovering a princess in trouble, his priorities switch to freeing her, and disvoering the way in which this country can make such perfect counterfeits. ****

Detective Conan - Pretty much any of the movies i loved, but The Last Wizard of the Century and Private Eye's Requiem were my favorites. Last Wizard of the Century about Kaitou Kid stealing a prized egg, then shot down. a long search between an heir to the egg, secrets of a castle, and Rasputans heir looking for revenge. Private Eyes Requiem starts with the Detective Boys, Conan, Kogoro and Ran all going to a new amusement park. They are all taken hostage (without most of them knowing) and Conan and Kogoro are forced to solve a case, while figuring out what the case is! If they dont do it in time, or they go too far away, or contact the police, or one of the kids leaves the park, then the bomb they are all wearing will explode. *****

I have no idea but on sky theirs an anamie channel so go to that and they got some stuff on
