It has never been truely defined, but it is usually associated with "A Company Making Everything" or "A Company (that) Makes Everything"

A Company that Makes Everything

The answer is there...

Interesting explanation here on American Company Making Everything : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acme_Corpor...

The company name is ironic since the word acme is derived from Greek (ακμ?) meaning the peak, zenith or prime. Generally, products from the fictional Acme Corporation are very generic and tend to fail. On the other hand, there are several actual companies named Acme.

I don't think it stands for anything, it is just the company the Warner Bros used for their shows with Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Tweety, ect.

America Corporation of Malfunctioning Equipment
A Company that Manufactures Everything

Since ACME isn't spelled A.C.M.E. in any of the cartoons, chances are it isn't an acronym and doesn't stand for anything. Acme could as easily be "Apex" or "Pinnacle," which mean essentially the same, but Acme was used often enough for real companies and places that it had become something of a generic name (in the sixties, before most people had come to associate the name with the Roadrunner and (especially) Wily Coyote, I lived in a town with a population of less than 10,000 that had an Acme Theatre, Acme Plumbing, and Acme Print Shop), usually used by companies and businesses that were less than the best in their respective fields). There is a possibility that the rocket rollerskates are manufactured by a company that makes nothing but various kinds of rollerskates (possibly only rocket rollerskates), and is not related to the company that makes the batsuits, but even if Acme manufactures all of the equipment that Mister Coyote uses without success it is the recognition of the name that is funny, not the name itself.

I believe that the name was originally picked for its generic associations, and that only after it had been used for years as a running gag did someone come up for an explanation for what the individual letters of the name might stand, not that an acronym was worked out first and then slowly used over a number of years so that an explanation would be available when one was finally demanded. Acme doesn't stand for anything, and that's one of the reasons the gag works.
