Why does everybody love spirited away so much?!
Question: Dont get me worng i like the film but its not the best studio ghibli film by at all. But every studio ghibli fan i have ever met has told me that spirited away is their favourite without a doubt. plus this film won an oscar. In my opinion howls moving castle should have won an oscar because it was much better. Can someone tell me why sprited away is that popular and why so many people think its the best ghibli film because its not. Howls moving castle is!

After watching all the movies made by Ghibli, I don't believe they've made a bad movie except maybe Panda! Go, Panda!. For the record, Princess Mononoke also won the Japanese equivalent of the Oscar . As for my favorite, I enjoyed the message and action presented in Nausicaa, but on raw emotion and thought provoking power I would have to choose Grave of the Fireflies.
I like it because it has an interesting story line. I also like the cool asian themes and visual affects in the animation.
hahah i luv them bothh but i got sick of howls moving castle after i saw it twice i could watch spirited away endless times and still love itt =]
first off, you are an arrogant fool. While Howl's Moving Castle is an admirable film, I think that Spirited Away just has a better plot. In my opinion, Spirited Away has much more continuity than Howl's. (note I am not using absolutes, a skill you should learn) This is why I think that people like it better. There is better character development in Spirited away as well, making the film easier to understand. You are probably just so much smarted than everyone else, so Howl's Moving Castle is better to you. And just for the record, my fovorite Studio Ghibli film is Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

And what you said is a matter of opinion. So you think Howls Moving Castle is a better movie, just an opinion. And winning an Oscar means that people prefer this choice than another. Which is all just an opinion. Spirited Away is a great movie, and many people have the opinion it is the best movie. This is all just about opinion.
I like it because its so unique. I dont watch many anamie films but I know in japan it had a big following, sorta like the matrix and lord of the rings fillms
