In Clash of the Titans, why is there a two-headed dog instead of a three-headed !
Question: Ray Harryhausen (the special effects/stopmotion animator)perceived that a three-headed wolf-dog would appear to be too clumsy and it would also take too long to animate a third head, so he decided to make it two-headed instead. Technically I don't think it is wrong because the two-headed dog was called a Dioskilos instead of Cerberus. So even though the Dioskilos is obviously based off Cerberus, they also didn't try to pass it off as actually being such.
If you really want to argue facts and what not (besides the facts that this is a Hollywood movie and it's also based off Greek Mythology), Cerberus wasn't Medusa's guardian, or whatever he was supposed to be, so maybe the Dioskilos was intended to be a completely different monster. Or, since Cerberus had a two-headed brother called Orthrus, maybe the Dioskilos was based off him instead.

I think it may just have been a oversight. I always wondered about that myself.
Because it's Clash of the Titans? Seriously, that movie is terrible. With or without the 1930's King Kong special effects.
Hollywood isn't know for historical accuracy.
