They cut alot of stuff from the japanese version when it was translated to the english one. They also never translated the Fifth season into english.
Differences? The names are different in japanese, stuff is cut out from the english version and 5th season wasnt translated (or shown in usa or canada). That's it, end of story.
Season 1: five sailor scouts are introduced, tuxedo mask turns bad then good again, death of queen beryl, etc.
Season 2: "Rini" is introduced as sailormoon's "cousin."
Sailor pluto is introduced but you don't see much of her. Serena and Darien become boyfriend/girlfriend and find out "rini" is their daughter.
Season 3: Outer sailor scouts (Uranus, Neptune) appear. Friend or foe? Dosen't matter, they're awesome. Rini returns as "mini moon" with lame powers but pretty cute.
Season 4: Pegasus...? mmm Definately not my favorite, i found myself skipping several of these episodes. Fight against Queen Nehelenia. Rini returns for the last time in the show.
Season 5: Queen nehelenia returns and is defeated. Sailor starlights appear and Darien's star seed is taken. The ultimate enemy, "sailor galaxia" is defeated, the end.
For the sake of whoever never saw it in japanese i used the english names.
My favorite seasons were three and five. I watched the entire thing in one sitting, took about 3 or four (ish) days.
I love it =) I suggest you watch the japanese version. Its the best one, uncut, for older audiences ;-)

Well yes the japanese and english are way different the most noticable is the name and haruka and michiru aka amara and michelle name are Rei=Ray Ami=Amy Usagi=Serena Mamoru=Darien Chibi-Usa=Rini Makoto=Lita Minako=Mina and haruka and michiru are lesbians not cousins oh and they skipped the par where they find out usagi and mamoru are chibi-usas parents they even skipped the last season!!=0
There are no different of all the series but the addition of the characters seems that there are different from each series.
I like the 'oringinal' Japanese verison. The English voices are so corny and cheesy. >.<
So yeah.
