um... is it Get In Gear?
if im right best answer me...
It's never really been clarified I don't think.
It could just be a reference to the common pronunciation of GB, or gigabyte.
I think it just a slang term for "next assignment" or "next mission".
Gig is short for Gigabyte, a term used to demonstrate how large a computer's memory is (as in, it holds 1 or 2 or 3 gigabytes). The second Gig is the next phase of the story. Calling it the 2nd Gig as opposed to the second season is a connection to the cyberpunk world of Ghost in the Shell.
