Well, I think that the blast somehow jolted his memory and while his bro flew him away somewhere, he somwhow ended there. Hiro on the other hand is indeed a hero in his own right but Takezo is a legend and he should remain that way and that the past must remain the same. In case youhaven't noticed, Takezo is also one of them. That's what probably made him a hero :-)
