Question: I use to be an avid spider man comicbook reader untill I went to college in the late 90's. What has happened since then? I know he had a child. What is her name and what happened to Mary Jane dying in a plane crash. Any info or websites or an explination gets the 10.

There is way too much that has happened in the past 15 years to list here. To answer the questions that you asked though:
Spider-Man's "daughter" isn't the real Spider-Man's daughter. Spider-Girl (May Parker) is the daughter of an Alternate Reality Peter and Mary Jane that is set in the future. It was part of the MC2 Universe that also included the children of Wolverine, Juggernaut, the Avengers and other characters. The Spider-Man from the normal Marvel Universe has never had a child (Mary Jane did give birth, but the child was stillborn).
As for Mary Jane's "death", it never happened. It turned out that a telepathic stalker had kidnapped Mary Jane because he wanted to take over Peter's life. The stalker eventually realized that what he was doing was wrong and he killed himself allowing Peter and Mary Jane to get back together.
The most significant events have been happening lately.
During the Civil War story, Spider-Man decided to reveal his true identity to the world. As a result, Aunt May was shot by an unknown assassin so Peter went back to wearing his Black Costume to find out who had shot her. Currently Spider-Man is trying to find a way to save Aunt May.
