There are a lot of fillers, especially for the first half of FMoS. The anime is based on the manga by Arina Tanemura. The manga was turned into anime after only a few chapters of the manga was out, and since the manga was serialized in Ribon magazine, which comes out monthly, there are a lot of fillers. The anime was okay in my opinion, if you have around 17 hours to watch it all and like fluffy stuff, you might enjoy this.

There is some romance but not too much. It's mostly in the later half of the series that there's some romance but you don't really see much of it, since the main character, Mitsuki, is already in love when the anime starts (except for flashbacks to when she was a kid). There's more comedy than romance, in my opinion. I personally found Mitsuki kind of annoying though.

There is a happy ending though, I don't think I could think of a more perfect ending to any anime I've ever watched. It did make me cry, but that might've just been because I was already crying before I started watching it.

I heard that the manga is much better and that it's really different from the anime. I've only read one volume of the manga and it's a bit different from the anime so far. The manga is 7 volumes (30 chapters) long.

Its pretty good and i think its romance, the last time i watched it was like a couple of years ago and i dont quite remember the ending.

I think it all depends on the person, whether they like it or not. But, to me, yes, it was a very cute and tragic romance story. I wouldn't say it was over-flowing with romance, but it had some, and the main idea was centered around love. The main girl, Mitsuki, singing for the guy she loves.

Well, once again, the ending is all about opinion. It was both sad and relieving. But more on the sad side, I'd say. Afterall, from the beginning Mitsuki loved sining but had throat cancer, and I don't think with a beginning like that, that it can have a happy ending. So, I'd say, no, it was not a happy ending, but you should check it out; you might just love it!
