What is his favorite thing to do? There are lots of anime cater to a specific genre he might like :
a. Horror : Death note, Monster or Elfen Lied
b. Sports : Prince of Tennis, Hajime Ippo, Slam Dunk, Eyeshield21
c. Comedy : Ah my Goddess, Love Hina
d. Action/Adventure : Naruto, Bleach, Airgear, One piece (uncensored version)
e. Classic : Ghost in the shell, Cowboy beebop, Rorounin Kenshin
f. Shoujo (girly anime-just in case :D) : Fushigi yuugi

Start him out with ghost in the shell. It's quentin tarantino and the wachowski's brothers favorite, so if he likes the matrix then this IS the movie/anime to watch.

As for series, there are just so many varieties. Aside from Dragonball which made Anime into the hit maybe the samurai epic of Kenshin (Rorounin Kenshin) might interest him?

Good luck and I hope he turns into a fan! :D

Hmm, well, you could start him off on Trigun or Berserk. Trigun probably, considering it's very well liked.

Legend of the...Nah, Macross or Gundam Wing are some classics.

Cowboy Bebop, its popular with everyone

love hina!

if the fun characters or animation doesnt get them, the innapropriate will

or sailor moon if they are into more whimsical stuff.

both awesome :))

absolute boyfriend series

show him some manga porn

Trigun is a good thought. Perhaps Full Metal Alchemist- it's got a good plot that reels you in right off the bat. Cowboy Bebop would also probably be a good choice.

Either bleach which has an amazing storyline (very violent etc. so 4 ur age) FMA which is the same but kinda betr then bleach. Hale and guu is HILARIOUS! but if ur 19 then i dont know... check out episode 1 of each show:) oh and reborn! cant beleive i forgot that.

:)

Hi I am 24 and we like DBZ although thats not really a true anime..
How about Golden boy!!!!!
There are ton of others out there too but thats the only one that comes to my mind..lol

DNAngel is probably a good one...

Hmm.. try something like Ergo Proxy or Death Note. They're both intriguing and would probably be more appealing to someone his age.. Good luck.

Fruits Basket. The best anime ever! Is so awesome and great for any age. Its really funny. Its was my first anime and i have completely fallen in love with it. Its Awesome!

try

Ouran High school host club
Love hina
fruit basket
princess princess

thats all i can think of

Naruto, Bleach, One Piece...

Trigun

Fellmetal Alchemist

Full Metal Alchemist
Bleach
Naruto

Some good anime are Bleach, Naruto (DON'T SHOW HIM THE ENGLISH ANIME! The Japanese Naruto will do.), Prince of Tennis is a good one! So is MAR. Hikaru no Go (Japanese) is also a good one. Some classical good ones are Gundam Wing and Dragonball Z.

If he likes funny shows, show him Bobobo-bobo-bobo (PS: Bobobo is extremely hard to follow (-_-).

There are many good Anime that are good to watch! Although, I do not prefer showing the "dub" versions.

AND TELL HIM IQ129 SAYS THAT ANIME AND CARTOONS ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SUBJECTS! Thank you!

Fullmetal Alchemist- it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you think. Incredibly intriguing plot with deep characters who seem so real that you actually care about their struggles. There is not one part of this anime that I thought was boring or fillerish. It had my full attention throughout.

Fooly Cooly (also known as FLCL)- only six episodes long, but it accomplishes more in those six episodes than most anime do in 50. It's beautifuly animated and also really goofy and off the wall. It may not make much sense on the surface, but it's really a symbollic coming of age story. That being said, it's weirdly hilarious, which is a good thing. The music is awesome too.

Samurai Champloo- This might make your boyfriend reconsider that anime is for little kids. Badass characters, badass fights, 'nuff said.

For his first anime try Death Note. It's a mature anime and very interesting. Here is an overview.

Light Yagami is an extremely intelligent young man who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change in the year 2003, when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the new world" by passing his judgment on criminals.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word "Killer"), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

I'm SURE you two will love it!

Try:

Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X
Death Note
The Prince of Tennis
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
Samurai Champloo
Fullmetal Alchemist
Darker Than Black

The following are quite long, but still worth it:

Naruto
Bleach
One Piece

Try trigun for starters. It's pretty hilarious in the beginning but it gets darker. Try NOIR pretty good one!

i would start him out on one call Hellsing. blood, fighting, big guns, bad attitudes, cussing, and a vampire with a major superiority complex. the whole ball of wax. you don't want to start him out on one that's too girly. it might ruin him for life. my husbands first anime experience was not a good one, he wouldn't watch anime again for a long time. also gantz. if you want something a little less.......heavy, try bleach or naruto.

~Full Metal Alchemist
~Hunter X Hunter
~Kanon 2006
~Ouran High School Host Club
~Onegai Teacher
~Onegai Twins
~Seto no Hanayome
~Slam Dunk
~Zombie-Loan

fruit basket!!!! thats the first anime i watch.
