Im actually artist who want to do like animation or something?!

Question: I know I dont need a degree in animation finally found that out. But I came across this school that gets straight to the point in the field and they're already professionals in the field. But I know I want a degree in something. And I dont wanna be stuck with not making enough money at the bottom of the animation field working as a admin. asst. or something you know. So thats why I was thinking about getting into a field where I know I would be making big bucks. (Radiologic Medical Doctor) And since it takes so long, that's why I was going to do it first. But I really never wanted to be a Doctor. I aways wanted to be in the entertainment industry. But I want a good life too u know. I want to get caught up and end up having nothing. What Do You Think..??

Hey there!

You need to be a little bit more specific. Do you want to be a mangaka artist or author? Manga artists don't make a lot of money and it's been rumored that Tokyopop doesn't pay very well. But it all depends on how big your name in the animation business is. Tite Kubo, author of Bleach, makes a good amount of money because the anime show, manga, soundtracks, etc, are all popular and people buy them a lot. After I graduate from high school, I want to intern for a mangaka artist while I'm in college and then eventually become a full time, payed manga artist. And I know that usually manga artists do not get payed very well, but I don't care because drawing is what I love to do, it's my passion. I wouldn't do something that I don't enjoy but get payed a good amount, than do something I do love and enjoy but not the best salary. But, hey, that's just my opinion ^_^. It's all up to you. But if I don't get to work in the animation industry, I have other options (medical field, biology, and animals). So I think it would be good to have other choices other than animation. Try to find something else you love so if it doesn't turn our well you always have other options ^_^
If you want a degree, than get one that is related to animation like a degree in design or art because that will impress people and probably get you better pay. I'm planning to go to the Savannah College of Art and Design..so keep that in mind :) And the animation industry is a very competitive field..there are hundreds of mangaka authors..so you need to really be focused and do your best.

Hope that helped you! And good luck! :)

which is more important the money or the job experience. Animation is a competive field, but so is any form of healthcare. Animators make great money. Getting a degree for animation is important and unnecessary. IF you get a degree it shows for one you definetly have skills, you will have a large portfolio already and will have a good idea what you want to do by the end of your schooling, but jobs will be hestiant at first because you will most likely want more money than someone without a degree, so they may pass you buy on a purely money based decision.

Well, that is the life balance you are gonna have to figure out on your own. Do you want to be truely happy doing something that you enjoy, but doesn't make a lot of money OR do something you doesn't make you happy but makes you financially secure? It's a difficult choice, but I would think about maybe a computer art and design degree (CAD). There are a lot of cartoons, movies, and video games that are utilizing computer CGI and stuff. Maybe you might want to look into that.

You want to do animation? Check out the "New Media" program at IUPUI (http://newmedia.iupui.edu/). It awards a Bachelor of Science degree.

Well, I'm an animator too, but the problem is that I am 11, Mexican, lol. When I grow up I want to be an animator like you, or an actor but you have a big future, having a lot of skills and talking various languages can let you do a lot of stuff, or maybe you could be a creator of a famous cartoon, just wait until you see, or maybe you can have 2 jobs or 3, I don't know, like my mom always said: "You can be whatever you want, but you have to put all your effort on it"

Good luck. ;)
