I've been watching it since it first aired and my initial reaction was it looks, feels and smells like Gundam Wing. The first episode didn't leave a huge impact to me compared to the wonderful first episode of SEED that caught me hook, line and sinker.
On the good side of Gundam 00, I liked the way they portrayed the political drama in the series and it seems that they are clearly focusing on the actual plot of the story.
But it is awkward since for about 4 years, people have been used to SEED and its cute characters and personal/emotional dramas. Then here comes Gundam 00 with a heavy plot and somehow even more gay (the gender) characters. I don't think it matches well, but I keep on watching because of the plot (and I have nothing else to watch as of the moment, after finishing the entire run of Heroic Age).
I yawned. Then I thought to myself "Actually it's not bad that they milk that cash cow even more. This gives them funds for other projects. And, who knows, Gundam 00 might turn out pretty good too."
i was exited at first, but it turned out to be nothing special. Honestly, compared to gundam seed destiny it sucks.
so far I've only watched three and the first time I thought the purple haired guy was a girl (but that's anime in general and not just gundam). I hope the series will build up as if goes. Um...though...you know, it'll be great where there was a gundam series which doesn't go "war is bad, so we'll kill ppl to end it....blah, blah blah."
