Are naruto fansubs legal?!

Question: If you really want to get realistic...

ALL fansubs are illegal, even if it has NOT been licensed in the US. Fans have been led to believe that downloading an unlicensed series is okay, even I believed it once.

But that's actually false.

Naruto has been currently licensed by Viz Media, and it's been sublicened by Cartoon Network (and that's why it airs on Toonami).

Usually fansubs cease distrubution and stop fansubs once a series has been licensed, but that doesn't really stop people from finding and downloading it later.

Even Dattebayo, who currently still place out fansubs of Naruto and Bleach, stated in their FAQ page that downloading Naruto IS illegal.

So all those fansubs or English episodes that you see floating around the internet...if it's not officially by Viz, or Cartoon Network, or any other company that holds rights to the series, it's illegal.

That includes, Veoh, CrunchyRoll, Torrents, YouTube, any Naruto fansite that offer free video downloads, Dattebayo...the list can go on.

If you really like the series, at least try to buy them. Too many people are abusing the downloading anyway. It used to be great for shows that didn't come to the US, which I can understand to an extent, but now people are asking for it all...including dubs, DVD-rips.

^^ Sorry if I got really serious...but I wanted to give you information like you asked.

No they're not since Viz got a hold of the anime episodes and dubbed them, fansubbing non-dubbed episodes still makes it a violation of copyright on Viz's be-half.

you cant theyll find out who did it

Ya viz is the one who dubs the episodes so they own the subbing industry for Naruto.

Yes, all fansubs of licenced anime/ all translated manga of licenced anime is illegal, because the anime is licenced for distribution to a company, not to fans.
