Sub-Mariner has a high level of super strength in the neighborhood of 75 tons. He is like a half-human mutant (note the high superstrength level, breathing of air on the surface, and the ankle wings that allow him to fly, unlike other Atlantis natives). He is way stronger than Aquaman, who is only slightly superstrong only due to his body's physical characteristics which allow him to withstand deepsea pressures.
To clear this up, Sub-Mariner is NOT stronger than the Thing, who is in the range of 85 tons. He might win an underwater fight with the Thing because that's Namor's element but he'd get "Clobberin' time" on the surface.
Submariner- by a lot.
Aquaman has super strength but at a very low level. He's like Spider-Man in the way that he's super-strong but there are so many other characters that are SOOOOOO much stronger that he'd never be considered a "strong guy".
Submariner, on the other hand, can lift around 100 tons. He can knock out the Thing.
My big thing about Aquaman is that everyone thinks he is weak as all hell but in the Justice DC comics series we see that maybe Aquaman isn't at underpowered as everyone thinks. But that being said for now its Namor, he has super strength from moisture in the air and water so he has a clear advantage.
