Did it all start to go downhill after Neon Genesis?!
Question: Back in the day there was Neon Genesis, Akira, Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell
then anime just started to spiral down into utter crap
sure there were some gems (Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Last Exile, FLCL) but who else agrees with me that Neon Genesis is the greatest anime series ever made and will not be beaten ever?

DID IT? seriously though,i've seen flcl,ghost in the shell (but only the series) & 2/3 of akira. yes,i do agree with you that all of these are great,but for you to say that neon genesis is the best and that everything went downhill after it, hmmm... probably not.
I'm agreeing with you completely. I think his career all started downhill and I still don't think he has rose from the shallows of anime. Hope this helped.

Well, it just a sign that now foreigners (especially North American ones) get more anime than in the past, and they learned than anime is more than the few elite titles they have seen in the past.
They have learn the true nature of anime, they have learn the mainstream anime.
As for going downhill.
Is it before or after Shin Seiki Evangelion?
Nevertheless, Evangelion is certainly recognized as one of the weirdist things that will never be pursue by a sane person.
It can be beaten only by a more insane thing.
