If you like comedy, school life, and romance then I would recommend:
- Hana Kimi
- Proposal Daisakusen
- Gokusen 1&2
- GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka)
- Hana Yori Dango
- My Boss My Hero
- Yamada Taro Monogatari
- Papa to Musume no Nanokakan
I would definitely recommend Nodame Cantabile. It's super awesome. ^_^

1 liter of tears its about school life abit of romance but no comedy but its really good
good old-gto[great teacher onizuka],it was based on a manga, though
Gokusen is about school its comedy and drama and have a little funny romance
Fruits Basket is the best
Gokusen (1 and 2) is great! So is Hana Yori Dango (1 and 2) and Great Teacher Onizuka.
Hmm... There are tons like that.
Try Fullmetal Panic, Azumanga Diaoh, or The Melochony of Haruhi Suzumiya...

Well the other person mentioned "1 litre of tears". I have to concur. Its the saddest, most gut wrenching, tear jerking drama on the planet. If you don't cry while watching it, you are from another planet. Its an EXCELLENT DRAMA. Erika Sawajiri gives an all star performance. There is also a movie called "1 litre of tears special". Check out "ghost train" and "shinobi", good movies with Erika in them also.
My next favorite is an Aya Ueto classic "attention please". I loved this drama very much, was quite excellent. "Abarenbo Mama" is just out and I've only gotten to see a couple episodes of it, but I like it and can't wait to see the rest. "kou kou kyoshi" is good, but sad. The japanese "Hotelier" is VERY EXCELLENT. Hotelier is a drama with many facets of drama going on in it. Its definately a diamond of dramas. Also good Ueto movies to see are "azumi" and "azumi 2". Lots of blood. Oh, "My little chef" is a good drama also.
edited - "kinpachi" is about school life, I haven't watched this yet but will soon and Aya Ueto is in it also. Also, another one about school life, is "My boss My hero". Its kinda silly but I enjoyed watching it. The korean movie, my boss my hero, is much better.
