Based on your complaint, it seems that you want an anime that might be more intelligent. I recommend a miniseries, "Serial Experiments Lain." It's a real puzzler from 1998 about a network that's similar to the modern-day Internet. A young girl is the protagonist and some fishy business arises when it seems that a dead classmate has begun messaging girls at school. The show is often surreal and a bit creepy. The plot proceeds slowly at times because the show is very atmospheric. It's very different from the action animes you've watched.
tbh, all the dubbed episodes are a load of crap.

inuyasha, fruits basket, death note, dn angel, rourini kenshin(i probably spelled that wrong), murder princess, one peice. inuyasha is the ultimate best. all anime in the world has drama by the way.
