End of Deathnote?!

Question: I just know finished the 12th (and last) book of Deathnote. And I want to know if I am the only one who is completely depressed with the ending. In the series, ALL of my favorite characters died! (I won't mention them in case of spoilers for other people.) And my least favorite characters did NOT die.

You're not the only one depressed. D: You don't need to say that all of your favorite characters die, because all the major characters do anyways. I think it was sad though because Light had good intentions for the Death Note, he just sacrificed his mind and soul to it and became a little psychotic when it came to trying to kill. But I did think it was sweet that the last image Light saw before he died was L hovering over him, and his eyes closed exactly the way L's did when he died. But what I'm even more upset about is that Misa didn't die. I don't know about the rest of you, but I found Misa very annoying. She was probably the cause of the downfall of Light anyways, because she was so oblivious and gullible and ignorant. And if she didn't show up with that shinigami, Rem, Light would've had no one to manipulate to kill L. She practically handed L's death over. But I do wonder if she jumped off that building in the end...

Hehe. But this anime was very emotional, I cried a lot, practically after every character's death, minor or major. ....Unless it was one of those minor criminals that Light killed. But I don't think I want a sequel, because I'm not sure it'd be the same. =\

that is the premise of the show. everyone involved must die. that way when the book is picked up by the next human, no one can recognize the pattern again. :D

doesnt it say the book is picked up again every 1,000 years or so? or am i not remembering properly.... oh well, if the fans demand, there will probably be a sequel (lets hope!)

I know! It was pretty depressing. But at the same time, I thought the ending was kind of fitting.

[Spoilers]
L had been my favorite character, closely followed by Light, Near, and Matsuda. It was pretty depressing to see L (though he didn't die at the end) and Light die. But I thought that the ending was fitting, with Ryuk writing L's name in the Death Note. I'm glad that Near and Matsuda survived though.
[/spoilers]

I watched the anime and read the manga.

Yeah i was really down with the ending. I mean (Raito had to die) and i also can take L death but why Mello.... he was such a nice guy... duh!
