anime is the best thing in the world
I sincerely hope no one believes that narrow idea. Anime is just a branch of animation and I can't think of a single animated feature, with the possible exceptions of Fleicher Studio's "Gulliver's Travels" and the three anime movies adapted from the manga "Barefoot Gen", that should rank among great movies. Or, to put it another way, while I might like cartoons, I always went to the movie theater to see the feature presentation, not the cartoon. If I had to choose between Turner Classic Movies and any other network, I'd keep TCM and kiss all anime good-bye.
Come to think of it, movies aren't even my favorite form of entertainment. I like to read much more than I like watching films, and doing a wide variety of other activities (bowling, skiing, playing cards, hunting, exploring caves, fishing, and camping out in isolated areas) with good friends is more entertaining than anything else I've ever done.
