Question: This one is probably late 80's too as my previous question. It's about a guy that pilots three robots that contain each other like russian dolls. The largest one is blue, the middle one is red and the smallest one looks like an american football player, even using a ball as a weapon. He has a robot panther of sorts as a pet. It's been years... lol

There's a late 70's - early 80's anime with the concept mentioned, it's "Toshi Gordian" / "Gordian Warrior".
The hero is Daigo, he usually wears the human size robot suit named Protteser (that look like an american football player).
When he needs more power, using Protteser he wears Delinger (the midsize red robot).
When he needs even more power, using both Protteser and Delinger he wears Garbin (the giant blue robot).
The whole system is called Gordian.
The mechanical leopard pet is Clint, named after Clint Eastwood.
There's also a late 80's series that use a similiar concept, called Machine Robo: Chronos no Dai Gyakushū / Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos. But it doesn't fit with most of your description.
