What do you think of the whole anime as live action movies stuff?!

There's a Chinese low budget movie who did Dragon Ball a long long time ago and it sucksed so bad. Maybe low budget is the keyword. It'll be interesting to watch a live action DBZ and Sailor Moon. I think budget would make all the difference. I mean check Starwars. If it wasn't made by George Lucas with multi million dollars budget, it wouldn't be as awesome as it was now.
There's some live action out there that's ok to watch like Death Note, Prince of Tennis, and Nodame Cantabile. But you also have to note that story line and characters are pretty easy to do (Meaning they're human and not Freeza and storyline does not involve transformation or destroying a planet).
There's rumors abt George Lucas bought the license for DBZ, but I don't know if it was ever verified.
Bottom line, as long as we're talking big budget and awesome casts, I think it'll work.

I don't think I would go watch it. I feel as though I would only come back disappointed. I mean first they altered a few things from the manga to the anime and I think they'll change many things from the anime to live action movie.
Plus the evolution from anime characters to real people... yea, I'm not really sure.
Edit: I agree with Betty B, if they want to make live action movie off of a JAPANESE anime they should at least choose Japanese people to play that role - I don't mean to sound rude, but that would spruce up the authencity of the movie.
There is a live action movie for death note, i liked it
i have watched several live action movies, i esp enjoyed death note, and i think that if the anime was originally created in japan that they shouldnt try to make it a live action in english... that just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
but as long as the film people stay as close to the storyline as possible and cast people that actually fit the role (like they should) that it would turn out all right... of course like w/ any other movie some ppl will like it and others wont ^_^
It really depended on if I like the anime version, who the actors are, and what the reviews are on the movie before I decide if I was going to see a live action version of anime.
I wouldn't see a Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Speed Racer tough.
If Evangelion gets made into a live action I might see that. but I doubt Eva LA will get made for a while(whick is alright with me) because of the new anime movies.
I've seen quite a few live actions based on an anime and i'd say it was fun seeing my favorite anime turn "real" somehow. Although there are still some flaws i still love watching them, but im not really sure about the supposed Dragon Ball live action.. Here's a list of the things i've seen..
- the Prince of Tennis Movie, i didn't like the other actors but i loved the special effects. and Yuu Shirota
- i really loved both Death Note live actions.. L is the best.. ^_^
- There's already a Sailormoon live action series and watching it was a kind of stress relief.. it was hilarious..
- my all-time favorites would be Gokusen, HanaKimi (manga-based), You're Under Arrest, and Detective Conan..
