Why do characters in anime/manga always scream their attacks b4 attacking?!

Question: This's been buggin me forever. In Naruto, (although I don't watch it alot) they always say it AND do the little hand sign thingy. In InuYasha, (my favorite anime/manga of all tyme!) they all say their attacks, 2. (InuYasha screams, "WIND SSCAR!!!" and everything blows up like BOOOMMM! I find it kinda funny.)

Anyway, It kinda annoys me and I think, "Why the hell do they do all that? Is it really necessary?"
Be free to give any more examples of anime or manga where they do that.

I guess to make it more dramatic and to show how powerful the attack is. Also its possible that the creators want to make you feel like your there in the anime/manga.

NARUTO 100% BEST ANIME/MANGA EVER!!!!!

NARUTO ROCKS!!!!!

MANGA ROCKS!!!!!

ANIME ROCKS!!!!!

well yeah it can get annoying. but the dude who is attacking thinks " omg there is no way someone can dodge my attack so I'll just scream it out at the top of my lungs!" lol well not really they probably just scream it out bec/ every one will know it's their signature move.

like when rock lee from naruto screams 'konaha leaf hurricane'
bec/ it's his signature move

They do it so that the audience can hear and learn the name of the attack. Otherwise, they would need to find another way of introducing the attack.

As it was said, different attacks have different names. I'm sure if I was watching an anime in which the character had different powerful moves, I'd probably get irritated not knowing what they were called.

Adding another anime that does this: Betterman has the most ridiculous attack names I've ever heard of, making the whole thing just plain silly. Every attack was a psycho-something; psychovoice, etc.

That's a very good question. I believe the reason why characters scream their attacks is th same reason why martial artists in movies slow down and exagerrate their movements; In order to help the audience understand what is happening.

When you watch martial arts movies, the fights are extremely different from dojo-sparring or street fighting. Movie fights are very descriptive, slowed down and let the audience see what's happening, otherwise they would be confused and upset.

In anime, because there are often fantasy-powers involved, the 'special movies' must have names in order for the audience to understand what is happening, but also for the characters to make references to those 'special movies.' To add to that, because the audience can refer to this supernatural powers by a name, we can identify and relate to the character with a stronger connection. When that character gets into a pinch, you can think, "Oh, why doesn't he just use instant transmission, and then Kamehameha" instead of, "why doesn't he move really fast and then do the fireball thing."

It IS silly that the characters yell out the attack names absolutely every time, but when you think about it, its also kinda cool and funny. Can you imagine how boring it would be if your favorite characters used their ultimate fireball/transformation/explosion moves without saying a word!?

TELL ME ABOUT IT! lol

I am alwayz watching Inuyasha and he is ALWAYS yelling out his attacks before he does them!

lol i guess it is just Bcuz the attack wont wrk if they dont?

idk reele i think that is why tho.

HOPE I HELPED!

ps INUYASHA RULES
XD

makes it dramatic and...the writters want them to...mabey...?...I don't know...

it could be also a focusing technique to gather the necessary chakra or spiritual energy. but in harry potter and bewitch there are spells that are spoken and others that are not and it was explained the non-verbal spells are a little harder because of the concentration involved. that's why they learn that technique in later years.

it's not annoying..I think it's because when they're fighting with screaming they're express and release all their anger, but what about attack names, well yeah it's weird sometimes, but i also think that saying loud those attacks that maybe activates them more somehow x) ok just nevermind..

It's to confuse the enemy before attacking them.

Example:

Naruto: RAZENGAN!!!!!!!!

Kabuto: Razen-what? Ahhhh, MY LIVER!!!!!

Think of it as an intimidation and confusion tactic.

i think its cause its for the veiwers to know what their going to do before they do it. and another anime where they do that is bleach.the capitains scream out the name of their bankai and all soul reapers say the kido name before the acutual thing

Well, they scream out their attacks to get more spirited @ scare the enemies...! Even animals screams out when they fought each other, right? ^^ (my cats does dat). So, it might be an introduction to their skills or somethin'. Well, other reasons has been well said here. XD
