Can someone explain the plain brown wrapper reference in the Blondie comic strip!
Question: Did anyone read the Blondie comic strip on Sat, Dec 15? I don't understand the joke or the reference can someone explain it to me? The strip opens up with Blondie and Dag at the movies. They see a movie poster for Steamy Steam. Adults only. Dag asks the cashier - How adult is that movie anyway? The cashier replies - Let me put it this way...we have to serve the popcorn in a plain brown wrapper.
I've read this comic several times but it isn't funny, I don't get the reference. Can someone please explain? Thanks

Actually, this used to be a selling point (and probably still is) for buying dirty stuff through the mail. "Arrives in a plain brown wrapper." Eventually it became a colloquialism.
Because dirty mags come in plain brown paper bags when you buy them at the newsstand. Don't ask why I know.
lolz oh yea i remember that, that got me confused
