What is the best gory anime series out there?!

Question: 1. Elfen Lied - my first choice because no other anime contains as much twisted killing and gore. Even though some other series might be more graphic or more hardcore, this series displays more blood/gore per scene, per episode, than any other anime I've seen.

2. Gantz - lol... this anime is beyond gory, second to Elfen Lied ONLY * in terms of "gory" consistency.

* ( amount of gore per scene, per episode)

3. Basilisk
4. Samurai X ( especially Trust/Betrayal )
5. Battle Royale
6. Afro Samurai
7. TOKKO

berserk
elfen lied

Damn he took mine!
Elfen Lied definately. It's a short anime but it's totally worth it.
Very gory ^ ^

Berserk is on a whole different level than Elfen Lied.

Elfen Lied only relies on convenient memory lapses and really is a shallow story.

I personally love Berserk, Now and Then Here and There, Hikaru no Go, and I could go on and on. There are plenty of shonen series that don't necessarily have great stories, but they have great characters that lead to great adventures and you simply root for them. Series like Hajime no Ippo, Slam Dunk, and all those huge shonen series (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) are all good.

You can view the manga series of those I mentioned here:

Blood+

Ya I would recommend Blood +

I've watched and enjoyed all the previously listed series. One that wasn't listed but's a must add is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and the second season Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. It's not just the psychotic killers but it also has a plot that keeps you guessing. Killer loli's rule.

I liked Claymore best.

Tokko Big Time!!
