Shikamaru's special?!
Question: He uses his shadow hold to make them imitate what he does, but then takes out a shuriken. Does he throw it to hit them or make them dodge then hit their head against the wall behind them? On the Naruto show in the chuunin exams and the game it looks like they're just hitting their heads.

Shikamaru is a genius; he wouldn't want to attack himself by allowing the "captured" to hit him with a shuriken. 8D
The thing is, when he captured Kin a.k.a. the Sound girl ninja, he was fooling the girl by taking out a shuriken (which she followed) and tried to "attack" her (which she followed by throwing hers towards him actually). What she did not realize was that a wall was obviously behind her - Shikamaru made her think that he was trying to hurt himself.
Which succeeded, because when he dodged, she did too, but had her head hit the wall and collapsed instead. XD Shikamaru was on the wider area of the field, which enabled him to be able to dodge safely.
So that's it. =^_^=

In his fight against the sound ninja he dodges it to make her hit her head and get knocked out, in the game i don't know.
Well his special is just the manipulation part...he only did that shuriken thing once. He took control of the person and the wall just happened to be there so he took advantage of it and used it in his strategy.
They just OD on that in the game...that's why I dont like him in the game. And Shikamaru is actually one of my favorites.....next to Lee of course!!
His standard tactic with it is just to hold the enemy still while his team mates attack them. Later on he develops it so the shadow can strangle the enemy.
his special is the shadow strangulation justu where he catch's a person in his shadow and forms his shadow in the shape of a hand and it travels upto the persons neck and strangles them. it is simular to the third hokage's justsu where the other person can fight back and even break the shadow possion after forcing shikamaru to use the justu on that him for a long time untill his charkra's gone and then hit shika with somethin and kills him it's a double edge sword and his father taught him this justsu
