If Mohammed's likeness can be used in the South Park episode Super Best Frie!


Question: When Super Best Friends was made, then wasn't a worldwide controversy going around. The episode was banned in several countries after it first aired though because of the minor outrage over his depiction.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone created Cartoon Wars because they wanted to comment on the controversy that was created when a Danish newspaper printed a series of caricatures of Muhammed a few months earlier. Because of the Muslim communities outrage over the caricatures, the Comedy Central executives told Parker and Stone that they didn't want them to air Muhammed's likeness. In retaliation for the demands, Parker and Stone decided to show the Jesus thing instead. You can read the whole story here:

No one said his likeness could not be used, its just that some Muslims find it to be offensive. The same way most Christians would be offended if some other culture did a cartoon with Jesus smoking a blunt.
