Question: Okay seriously I think they live in an apartment or something together cause people keep writing fanfiction and doing fanflashes that imply that they live together,but I just want to be sure. Here is the thing - there is no straight yes or no answer, only assumptions and guesses. Because there is so little of Matt in the manga, and even less in the anime, and almost no extra useful information in How to Read Death Note 13, we'll never know for sure. I'm sorry to give you an answer that is less than a full yes, but that is all that is possible. Chances are most likely that the answer is yes. After the raid on the mafia's hideout and Mello escapes, it seems this is when he enlists Matt's help(we don't know if he had before this or this is the first time since they left Wammy's house), and they are both in Japan at the time which isn't where they are from, so chances are while they are tracking Kira they are staying together.

it's true that there isn't a sure yes or no, but yeah Matt was seen living with Mello in an apartment, but it's sure that he is a former resident of Wammy's orphanage the same as L, Near and Mello's orphanage...
