Does the Excel Saga manga get any better?!

Question: I recently started watching the anime of Excel Saga, and it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Later, I bought the manga, and I've gotta be frank. Compared to the anime, the manga sucks.
But since it came before the anime, it would only make sense, so I've got a couple questions about the manga.

1: Does the manga ever get as funny as the show?
2: If so, around which book does it start getting funnier?
3: Does Pedro ever come in as a character?
4: Is the manga still being made?

1. Yes it does.
2. Depends on your definiton of funny...but it's funnier around book 3. The manga has another agent, Elgala, to get on Excel's nerves in ACROSS too. Which I find to be funny. Plus the manga is more about the social aspects of Japan than just concentrating on parodies of anime like the anime depicts.
3. He will appear not sure where....
4. It is 18 volumes long is still ongoing in Japan. So lots more Excel to go.

The manga is a completely different storyline from the anime all together as per the request of the manga-ka. The anime is actually considered ot be a LOT tamer than the manga in Japan.
