The crowing sounds like 'Aho', which is a word for idiot. It usually comes after a character says or does something that is extremely stupid or tells a bad joke that no one thinks is funny.

sorry cant help u

urm...you need some help.

umm its one of their more creative ways to change scenes

as in birds?

i watch anime, but not those long series ones..

probably because the director told the artists to draw them..

it's kind of like to portray someone doing/saying something stupid.

it's like the equivalent of Nelson saying "HA HA!" on the simpsons.

sometimes, like in naruto, if they make noises, it's the japanese way of making humor. it like a mocking kind of laugh.

Haha, it means that someone is an idioit. Usually the person being made fun of in the joke... or whoever says something stupid.

For d Gray man its a dark anime so the purpose of the crows is to symbolize it. For Naruto or bleach its just there but in mangas for like bleach's manga or naruto's manga in the same scene where the crows are there should be a little side note of why the crows are there.

It usually is a filler for an awkward moment of silence after a character says something incredibly stupid or obvious.

because they sound like they say "baka" meaning stupid so the joke is on whoever did whatever that took place right before.
