No doubt that Ghost in The shell is taking that spot as a reall good anime movie.
Also i love the DBZ Movie & Naruto Shippuuden Movie the three others where a bit lame but the Next Shippuuden movie is gonna be a real bomb since it'll be part of the story with naruto & sasuke unlike the others
grave of the fireflies(no soft underbelly or happy endings) wonderful!!!
Chirio - Spirited Away is the best I belive, but the other Miyazaki movies are also great., like Princess Mononoke, or Howl's Moving Castle, Nausika?, etc.
Grave of the Fireflies is sad but worth to watch,
Metropolis is another good one,
Tekkon Kinkreet is a new one, and I would recommend it too:)

That's a matter of opinion. However, with that being said, I consider Ghost in the Shell one of the best anime movies to date.

i love almost all of ghibli's/miyazaki's work...i also think that the best movie that came from an anime series is the Utena movie. that movie was beautiful. i also enjoyed millenium princess.
