Question: In Naruto manga 387, do you think Sasuke actually got his eyes plucked out? or is it just some illusion?
I mean, how can one of the best main characters die or lose?

It's good for the plot if the main characters face some sort of adversity and not win unscathed all the time. So there's a good chance he got one eye plucked out. But that doesn't mean he would die--Kishimoto stated that Sasuke was his favorite character. I doubt he'd kill him off, but a lost eye may make for a good battle scar.
But then you're right, there's the chance that it's an illusion. I'm thinking, because of the scream at the end, he probably got one eye plucked out. It's sort of a parallel of the Kakashi/Obito thing, maybe Sasuke will get an eye from someone else? Or maybe take it back?

but itachi won't go easily not without a good fight!
no he does not get his eyes plucked out the real fight between them has just begun Sasuke is not going down without a good fight and the same goes for itachi. More then likely it is some type of genjutsu that sasuke created. And like you said the main character cannot die just like that....too many people will be pissed and readers may be lost....but then agian he could possibly get a single eye plucked out....the main character cannot always be uhurt after every battle they have to face some serious injuries some time that keep readers interested and want them to keep reading to see if the main character can overcome whatever obstacle.....well just have to wait and see.
honestly, i hope he does get his eyes plucked......

i kinda miss the old sasuke when he didnt let
his insecurities && emotions get a hold of his good judgement
now he is shrouded in darkness && is unable to see what
he really wants in life! once he kills his brother(which is prolly
gonna happen seeing he is a MAIN character even though
everyone knows that his brother is WAAY more strong)
sasuke is gonna be a lost soul with no true identity
or...........goal in life! he is gonna have no one
to turn too anymore seeing as he ditched his whole
VILLAGE! && if naruto them do accpet sasuke them back

Getting an eye plucked out doesn't mean that the victim will die in an instant. Or lose. (Well, that's from what I have seen - Sasuke got his left eye plucked out first, but both? Not yet.)
I love to think that it's only an illusion, but somehow I don't to see more genjutsu battle between someone who has perfect eyesight versus one who has blurry vision.
Best main characters can lose or die - "heroes cannot lose / die" is only an illusion. Even Neo from The Matrix once lost and dies, why not Sasuke? >_>

I dont think that Sasuke can die so easily just because as you said it-he`s on of the main characters and I think that he is using his clone or something like this and he cant lose to Itachi but Itachi is strong,too so it will be a long fight
