They had to make it more appropriate for the children so they tried to pass it off as them being cousins, don't be confused. In the real unaltered version, they are lesbians

In the original Japanese version, yes, they're a couple. When they translated in into English they made them cousins instead, I guess to make the show acceptable for kids.
In the japanese anime version Sailor Uranus is a lesbian and Sailor Neptune is bi. However in the American dubb version of Sailor Moon, they make them cousins as a way to bypass taboo-ness and b/c they erased their kissing scenes to make it so that little kids won't ask their parents, "why are two girls kissing?"
yes they are together sailor uranus is lesbian and neptune is bisexual that is in the japanese ....in english they change it so it would be suitable for children and the companies who played that in america would not get sued they also took out the kissing scenes between them they made them cousins for the english version hope this helped
