Krazy Kat, from the old George Herriman (sp?) cartoons from many years ago. The art is so cool and surreal, especially the color ones, and the Kat is like a Krazy anarchist or philosopher AND he 'talks' in a New Orleans dialect.
They are from long before my time but I have a huge book collection of them.

In animation I have to say the Fleischer studios's version of Popeye hands down. The one with the black tunic and skippers cap. Other than that Pink Panther. In comics I'd have to say Segar's original popeye, Bobby London's too brief stint on that strip, Krazy Kat, Odd Bodkins with Fred Bird and Hugh the pointy-headed intellectual, and Sylvia.
I'd love to see a TV special based on Mercy, It's the Revolution and I'm still in my Bathrobe or Ma, Can I be a Feminist and still like men?
