What do you think about English voice actors in Animes?!

Question: I think the English voice actors like in Naruto or Bleach do an okay job. It's just they lose meaning of some of words they say, especially when it is a Japanese Anime. Sometimes there are no words in English for Japanese words. And the voice actors don't know how to prounounce Japanese words! They are freaking awful and for me destroys the mood to watch some of these animes. I watched Bleach first in English dubbed. It was okay but to hear in Japanese, it was awesome since I grew up in Japan. And these voice actors don't have accents...most of the anime are from Japan and hearing English accent kinna destroys the premise. They should use voice actors who are fluent in English and Japanese with Japanese accents. Tell me what you think or some of you ideas. Thanks!

I only like fan dubs. I have a friend who dubs anime AND knows Japanese, so his translations are really, really close and all the words are pronounced right. I love perfectionists. ^^

Some dubs are actually really close, though. The voices for Fumofu are close enough to be tolerated when I watch it with my friends who can't read subtitles. And in the Sorcerer Hunters OVA, some of the voices are actually better in English. I cannot stand Mille's Japanese voice... He's a man! D:

Anyway...

Most of the dubs I've seen are crap. Take Gravitation for instance. Shuichi's voice is lower than Yukis! And they mangled a lot of the jokes...

Or Yami no Matsuei. Omg... They had the guy who played James from Pokemon do Watari! D: And, to make things worse, he has a crappy accent that was sometimes there and sometimes not. And Muraki sounds like he's talking through his nose! Real evil there...

And Kyo Kara Maoh? *dies* The voices are SO wrong that they change the personality of the characters! And that's just sick...

i personally highly dislike most english dubs because they seem low quality when compared to the japanese dubs. naruto and bleach do have some good voice actors, like sasuke's, but overall i don't really like them much.
some anime movies, though, have some amazing dubs. take miyazaki's howl's moving castle; the english dub is phenomenal, actually better than the japanese in my opinion! so i guess it really just depends on the anime and the casting for characters.

I think thay to a dame good job i still like original dub still for us Americans it good

I agree with celeste.
There are many good ones that are done well but, just as many that are done poorly. The quality of the dub is only as good as the translations and voice actors.

Personally , I agree with you for I would rather have an anime series competently sub-titled . Voice - actors do well , at times , yet , as you have pointed out , lack the ability to give the word a proper inflection and thus meaning is lost .
Sometimes I am quite amazed to see that some anime is indeed properly dubbed and subbed !
Good QUESTion ! Still it is a matter of choice and English dubbed anime allows a wider range of viewers to have access to some very good series that they would not have normally seen if not for the VA's efforts .
:0)

i agree with celeste! (less typing for me lol!)

i think it depends i think the english dub of bleach have a good variety of voice actors. I just cant stand the 10th squads Histugaya's voice. but they do killl japanese words like rasengan in naruto. when naruto calls it, i didnt even no what he was talking about. it was just that bad. that made me stop watching the dub. i guess americans phail at pronouncing japanese words. another thing is that inaruto they give dattebayo a meaning which is believe it. dattebayo has no translation=really bad. its like a caput occido for me. latin for head kill
