Do you need to read/watch Cardcaptor Sakura to "get" Tsubasa Chronicle!

Question: I ask because I'm pretty much in ove with the xxxholic manga/anime and kind of want to watch/read Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles because I know they have some little cross-overs I'm interested in seeing- So I wonder, do you need to have seen all of Cardcaptor Sakura to understand Tsubasa, or does it stand alone?

I watched the first series or two of the English dub of Cardcaptors when it first aired in the UK, so I know the basic idea of "Clow made the cards" etc, but I didn't get up to the bit where you start discovering all Sakura's friends are reincarnations of magical beings (or whatever they are)

no not at all...
the two main characters might be the same, but its a whole different story.

there might be a lot of otehr character in TC that are from otehr anime too but their living a different lives [:

I don't think so, because i watched all card captor and a little of tsubasa and the stories have nothing to do with one another, the only thing is that you get familiar with the characters.... so, you dont need to.

No, it is not necesary.

The whole Tsubasa thing with the crossovers is (in my opinion) a way to make you read/watch/buy their old mangas and animes.

You know there are crossovers but you don't know where they come from, so you feel like you have to read ALL their work.... but NO! you can go through life without reading all the old mangas, don't worry.

But there IS a catch... you can read most of Tsubasa without reading xxxHolic. But there will be many times during xxxHolic when you will need to read Tsubasa to fully understand. In the end, you'll have to read both to get the whole story...
