One of the reason why i(we) like animes is because they can make you laugh, and also kill time. Let's say when you are sad, and then you watch a comedy anime, you will be all better in no time.

Anime's are just cartoons but from a different country...to them our cartoons might seem weird or something, but we think they are normal.

it has story, character development and a Plot unlike a lot of American cartoons.
I'm short on time so let me sum this up fast.
Cartoons are percieved as "Childish" while anime is more mature and complex with intriguing plots, characters full of personality as a real life person would be.

Type in series such as "Death Note" "Bleach" "Full Metal Alchemist"
to kind of get the idea. People like anime for the fact that they can connect, they can relate, and they can escape the boring reality we live in and get absorbed into the anime shows alternate reality.
Kind of the same reason people play videogames an escape from stress, real life.
Why do people like anything? I mean, what's so cool about Spongebob or any of the other American cartoons? About cars or music or rocks? People just like stuff.
But honestly? I think people like anime because it has a childish appeal (the whole animated thing) plus the drama and plots and dialog of a live action show. Plus the mystery of them being from another country. Everyone likes foreign things. ^^
I can only think to ask, why don't you like them?
I mean there are so many different ones that you have to like one.

God I'm 39 and still watch them, even ones like Sponge Bob.
It's a hobby that some people enjoy which is no different than any other hobby. It's a personal choice.
many teen artists are very interested in anime and are talented at drawing anime characters. these drawings are very cool in my opinion.
but, i do find anime cartoons on tv shows a bit odd. the way they are drawn and how emotion and changes are shown on their faces (anger, tears, and sweat), are all kind of annoying. i can't watch an anime cartoon for too long or i will become very irritated.
Because people have different tastes. You might as well ask why some people like football, and some people like rap music, and some people like to dance, and some people eat sushi, and some people go to see musical theater. There's no real clear cut answer except that people like what they like.
I like it because it's a medium where I'll see stories with crazy elements I can't find anywhere else. Rarely do you go to the movies and see Kung-Fu gangsters riding in spaceships, hunting down criminals on Earth, Venus, Mars and the moons of Jupiter, all set to Jazz music. Who would think to make something with that crazy combination and put it out there for people to enjoy? Only in the world of animation will you see something that cool, and done well.
I love the artwork, and the fact that although it's a cartoon, the character development and storylines are closer in quality to a major show. Plus, the people that put the work into these animes create an entire world to explore, with several layers to look at. It's similar to, though not as complex as, the TV show Lost.
That, and its just fun to get lost in something that is obviously fictional but full of imagination.

I understand the character development thing, but Anime always seems so preachy and drawn out.
Rather than actually doing things, they tend to talk about what they are going to do and the ramifications of what they are going to do. DESTROY THE PLANET ALREADY STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!!!
When I was a kid about 8-10, I liked to watch anime 'cause the drawings were so pretty. And when I get older and older, it attracted me by some reasons and I can't even answer. Maybe because it's fun, fantasy, mystery, action, romantic, ect... Just like you watch your favorite shows or movies. Try to watch some anime that are popular these day, you will be like me.
well, the anime is really good! like im a HUGE fan of anime cause you can say....i have no life. but anime has always been there, so i can watch,laugh,cry, and all that stuff. i kinda helps me find what i want in life. yeah like my friends say their just cartoons, but to me....ther more then that. Anime is my life, i cant live without it. and i mean it. i would be in a depressed manner never happy. so who knows, maybe people like it cause they are in the same case as me. *shrugs*
because it's fun....for me it's a de-stresser.....i like to anime over american cartoons because the plots are more linear from one episode to another ...the plots are more interesting and "happily ever after" just doesn't cut it...there's always more action and fight senes.....and frankly i've nevre seen an american made mecha series...or a yaoi one either!!!
because it is mostly about people doing things people cant do.
the fantasy,the plot of perfect love story's that wont happen.just to characters or someone live an awsome life.

they are cool and they have good graphics, stories, and they relate a meaning in every ep. just like naruto shippuden
