Sharingan
Sharingan is the advance bloodline limit of the Uchiha clan. It is one of the great three eye doujutsu techniques, the other two are Rinnegan and Byakugan. Sharingan is called copy wheel eye in japanese translation and mirror wheel eye in english translation.
Sharingan is associated with the ability to copy opponent ability, control opponent mind with illusions and also granted the user ability to read genjutsu, taijutsu and ninjutsu by analysing and predicted the pattern of their movement and stop it.
Sharingan is activated when the member of Uchiha clan is in life threatening situation except for mangekyou sharingan that needed to kill their closest friend in order to obtain this curse power.
Mangekyou Sharingan
This form is also called kaleidoscope copy wheel eye and It appearance is different from normal sharingan form which changes the shape from of three tomoe to elongated form. However it may have a different shapes and appearances for each users.
According to Itachi Uchiha those who have the potential to obtain mangekyou sharingan form must make a great sacrifice in order to obtain this power by killing their closest friend. For Kakashi Hatake, he state that everyone he cared about died long time ago, so how he obtain his mangekyou sharingan form is unknown. The use of this curse power will constantly deteriorate the user normal eye sight and results in blindness.
Itachi Uchiha Mangekyou Sharingan
Itachi Uchiha gained this mangekyou sharingan form power by killing his closest friend Shisui Uchiha at Nakano river. When activated, Itachi Uchiha is able to use the two most powerful jutsu.
The first is Amaterasu technique that create black burning flame which is said to be as hot as the sun and have capability of burning for seven days and seven nights as well as through any material.
Due to the destructive and massive power of this jutsu it consumed a large amounts of chakra. Itachi Uchiha becomes exhausted from using only one time and when he used them both the chakra drain will forces him to deactivate his Sharingan which is rarely occur for him.
The second techniques is tsukuyomi, by making eye contact with their opponents, Itachi can use tsukuyomi to transported them into an illusionary world where time last longer than a moment in the real world. Itachi have full control over this world and he can torture an opponent in any imaginable ways leaving them crippled and in a state of mental collapse.
Kakashi Hatake Mangekyou Sharingan
Kakashi Hatake have developed his new elongated mangekyou sharingan form during the time skip. He activated this form to use long range attack by opening and create time-space area warp sending his target to another dimension.
This techniques drain Kakashi Hatake chakra significantly as he collapses after using this technique just only one times. Kakashi's mangekyou sharingan form appearance is differ from that of Itachi Uchiha, for him it looks more like a pinwheel.
Kakashi doesn't need to kill his closest friend in order to obtain this curse power. He said that everyone who was close to him is already dead, so the requirement or development is unknown.

Normal eye of Uchiha clan member
This is the normal Uchiha clan eye which resembles normal human eye with iris, sclera and pupil. It is the same eye as normal people unlike byakugan which have white eye activated constantly all the times.
One swirl, partially activated
This partial sharingan form is activated to save the user when they are in life threatening situation. During the activation, the user eye will turn red and one of tomoe or swirl will appear, after their first activation they will be able to activated this power anytimes. Sasuke Uchiha left eye developed this form when he firstly activated his Sharingan power.
Two swirls, partially activated
This is the second partially sharingan form. The user eye will turn red and second tomoe or swirls will appear. When Sasuke Uchiha activated this power, his right eye took this form.
Three Swirls, fully activated
This is the fully activated sharingan form. The user eye will turn red and three tomoe or swirls will appear in both eye. When this form is activated the user can read ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu. Able to learn the skill, copy and used as his own.
Partial elongated mangekyou sharingan
This is partial activated which will lead to the next stage of elongated mangekyou sharingan form. The Uchiha clan will be able to obtain this advance curse power must be cold blood and required to killed his closest friend.
Itachi Uchiha show this partial form when he looked back at Fugaku his own father during the event that Itachi was suspected by the Uchiha clan leaf police force about Shisui death drowning at Nakano river.
Itachi Uchiha mangekyou sharingan
In the legend of Uchiha clan, this kaleidoscope copy wheel eye form rarely appear or obtained only by a few Uchiha members. With this form activated the user is able to used the deadly spell known as amaterasu and tsukuyomi.
Itachi Uchiha was able to finally activated this form when he killed nearly all of his clan with the help of Madara Uchiha.
Kakashi Hatake elongated mangekyou sharingan
This curse form was activated by Hatake Kakashi who is non-Uchiha clan. When using this form the user can collapse space in focus area and send them to other dimension. It haven't been reveal yet on how Kakashi Hatake obtain his mangekyou sharingan form. The requirement is to kill closest friend but Kakashi said that everyone close to him is already passed away.

Almost all Sharingans will be different. You are correct about the requirements but others do not require such drastic measures. So, there are a lot more than three different sharingans.
there is actually 4 types of sharingan.
the first type is the sharingan with one tomoe. this type lets the user foresee motions. ie: the battle between haku and sasuke.
the second type is sharingan with 2 tomoe. this one allows the user to copy motions foreseen and still foresee them.
the third type is sharingan with 3 tomoe. It allows the user to perceive motions, copy the motions perceived, and predict motions. when using this sharingan, (sasuke) saw naruto in slow motion, so he was able to predict what he was going to do.
the fourth and last type of sharingan is the Mangekyo Sharingan. two people in naruto have this, kakashi and itachi. with itachi's, he has two abilitys: he can make a black fire (like the one in the toad's stomach). in the other one, Itachi looks into his opponent's eyes and cast a Genjutsu spell on them. This allows Itachi to have full control over space and time and can place his opponent to be in any world for as long as he wants. The technique itself only lasts a short while in reality, however, to the opponent it feels like an eternity. In kakashi's mangeyko sharingan, he can warp things into another dimension, like when he warped deidara's right arm "away." to obtain this sharingan, the user must break the connection between themself and their best friend.
Actually to gain sharingan it comes on its own in a time of need when it can save ur life...(like when haku almost killed sasuke)...that is regular sharingan. But to recieve mangekyuo sharingan yes you can steal it from another mangekyuo sharingan user but it does not have to be from your brother, and ur correct if u kill ur bestfreind u can also gain mangekyuo sharingan...(or u can get a transplant like kakashi di with obito's sharingan)...there ar three main powers that come with mangekyuo sharingan, amaterastu...(when itachi and kisame came for naruto and jariya helps sasuke and naruto and uses toad mouth trap jutsu. itachi uses amateratsu to burn a hole in the toad to escape)
tsukyomi...(itachi uses it on kakashi as a genjutsu, it seems like torture for seventy-two hours but in reality it was a few moments) and there is one more kakashi uses on dederia to send him into another dimension but failed. all these obviosly take up a lot of chakra so u cant just use em willy nilly[yes i said it].
Naruto and Tootsie gave quite thorough ansers, but stopped short of the most recently revealed form: the Eternal Mangenkyo Sharingan. As of yet, we haven't seen it in action, but Itachi explained it as his goal in the manga recently, and stated that Madara Uchiha (Akatsuki member Tobi) has it. This is the form that requires you (already a user of Mangenkyo Sharingan, take the eye of a close family member who can also use Mangenkyo Sharingan. Exactly how the eye is used hasn't been explained. The effects are that the blindness caused by repeated use of Mangenkyo Sharingan is cured, and you at least live longer, if not become immortal. Apparently Itachi was aware of this from the beginning and this is why he spared Sasuke from the Uchiha massacre.
