Death note i rate it 9.3/10 its outstanding an amazing story and very well developed characters.
Monster 9.8/10 one of the best animes ull ever watch in ur life u have to watch it at least once i promise u, u wont regret it !
i no u got samurai x in but if u havent seen the OVAs i suggest u watch them : Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal and Rurouni Kenshin Reflections i rate trust and betrayal 9.8/10 its one of my fav animes. much more violent than the normal series and i have to say much better than the normal series overall.
Yu Yu Hakusho - if u liked hunter x hunter ull like this its made by the same guy. Its not as good as hunter x hunter but worth a view tho. 8/10
Elfen Lied - Very violent, prob the most violent ive ever seen, it has a good story with a weird but good love story. 8.5/10
Berserk (Anime and Manga) Epic! its one of the best ive seen. great story and characters. Very bloody action anime/manga The anime takes up only 1/3 or the story thats in the manga. (The manga is still running) 9.5/10
Paranoia Agent - Made from the guy who created the film Perfect Blue i think. Makes you think alot an very good anime! 9/10

-Cardcaptor Sakura(Jap with english subs, this is a really good show, of course if you don't like cute stuff you may not like it, very good i highly recommend.)
-Hellsing(If you like vampires this is a pretty high peak of vampire goodness right here.)
-Samurai Champloo(One of my most favorite anime it's good in english subs or english dub i prefer the english dub, lots of killing, can be pretty funny at certain points and also sad.)

All of these have at least some action and most of them have their funny points. I can't recommend Elfen Lied enough.

Judging by your tastes, you seriously need to watch Heat Guy J. It's about a detective in a futuristic city and he has this robot with him. They discover the underworld and slowly fight against the crime bosses that are taking over. It's doesn't have any anime stereotypes and the music is AWESOME. Each episode has a good point and the animation quality is worth watching for. Try it out!
