Ichigo's not a captain. He's captain-class, but not an official Shinigami captain.
Out of all the people with captain-class powers, I'd say Ichigo is one of the strongest, because he is the half-shinigami son of a former captain, he has an incredible growth/learning rate and he is a vaizard, giving him access to more power, but not more than one of the current Espada.
I'd say Urahara or Isshin could be the strongest out of all the people with captain-class powers. We haven't seen their full powers yet, but if they've able to live in the Human world and no one attempts to apprehend them, they must be pretty powerful.
Out of all the current captains, Yamamoto, the First Squad captain has got to be the strongest.

My bet for the strongest captain is tied between Yamamoto, and Aizen. Kenpachi would have been stronger, but he has no bankai or shikai. Anyway, back to the question. I know that Aizen is stronger than Yamamoto though, because Aizen has the power of hypnosis.
His attack or his zanpakuto's ability almost seem flawless, except for the time when Unohana sensed that there's something wrong with the corpse. That means he could trick Yamamoto into thinking he is dead or was heavily wounded. While he is doing this he can easily just stab the old man.

it's Kenpachi Zaraki. it is always claimed that he is the strongest among the gotei 13. he is strong. without his eye patch, he is much more stronger. he is the strongest, and he is not yet helped by his Zanpakutou coz he never bothered to try to know its name. but even without knowing his zanpakutou's name, he is still strong.
Urahara's Bankai is not yet known. but i can say that he is one of the strongest. and, i guess, ichigo's dad too.
definitely, Aizen is one of them. the espadas are strong and powerful and Aizen commands them. i'd say he's really strong.
Hands down, it's Aizen.
You see, his unreleased shikai (the first form of soul slayer/zanpaktou) manages to fool/deceive the ENTIRE soul society and he even faked his death. You know, fake a death in front of thousands of DEATH REAPERS-It's like faking a broken bone in front of an orthopedic. lol the irony.
And that's just his shikai, we haven't seen his bankai yet..
And he subdued the Vasto Lordes in Hueco Mundo, a feat only a few can attempt and even Hitsugaya said that a Vasto Lorde might be more powerful than the shinigami captains.
And he has Hougyouko in his hands, so that makes him pretty powerful.. And he knows everything that happens in SS-How does he do that?
I can't judge Uruhara, Isshin or Yoruichi for lack of information..
as for Yamamoto Taichou, he's strong, I agree, but he's no 1 not becuz he's the most powerful, he's there as he's the wisest and the eldest among them all..

if he doesn't count then, the strongest is that old geezer captian, the 1st divison captain, forgot his name >.<
