Because they save souls and send them to the soul society.
Edit: oh. I think that's just how they call them. Well, come on, no one watches the dub anyway. lol
Because it's the same thing.
Because I think they both mean the same thing from Bleach and Death Note. They can mean either Shinigamis or Soul Reapers.
Its like saying ninja or shinobi, they both mean the same thing. Except saying shinobi is just a more formal/professional way to say ninja.
Wow chu_4_lyfe - Kickn Wit Ma Homies I think this is the first time I have seen you ask a serious question lol.
Shinigami means Death God. Ergo, in order to avoid religious people getting on their case, Death God was changed to Soul Reaper.
BECAUSE I HEART THE DUB! And shinigami means death god...death god, soul reaper..meh same dif
*Edit
Hey, "Who Cares?" I watch the dub, you little turd! XD lolzzz
it sounds cooler in my opinion. shinigamis would be translated as death gods
Shinigamis means soul reapers or death gods so they're basically the same thing.
Shinigami is the Japanese term for (rough tranlation) Death God, Soul Reaper. they're basically one and the same.
whatever, it means the same!
Because obviously the reap the soul out of it's holder & that the translators didn't find anything better to call them!
I like Shinigami better than Soul Reaper
Cuz its English, not Japanese.
